Rob Nicol, New Zealand

Rob Nicol

Rob Nicol is an experienced top-order batsman who made an outstanding start to his international career by scoring 108 not out in just his fourth One-Day International, against Zimbabwe in 2011.

He followed that up with an innings of 146 in his eighth match, hit a half-century in a subsequent Twenty20 International and was awarded a Test call-up for the series against South Africa.

He was unable to translate his excellent limited overs form and prolific run-scoring at domestic level to the Test arena, struggling against one of the best bowling attacks in the world.

He was named in New Zealand’s squad for the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.

Nicol has represented Auckland and Canterbury in New Zealand, also enjoying spells with Gloucestershire, Mashonaland and was with the MCC Young Cricketers in 2001.
