Sussex and England wicket-keeper batsman Sarah Taylor was today awarded the ICC Women’s One-Day International (ODI) Cricketers of the Year Award.
The award comes after GM’s Taylor notched up 334 runs at an average of 66.80 in the last year. This included an unbeaten 55 against the West Indies last November followed by a match-winning century off just 108 balls to seal a maiden series win by any touring party against the West Indies on home soil.
The talented all-rounder won the award despite the voting period opening the day after one of the best wicket-keeper catches of all time from Taylor to snag Aussie batsman Jodie Fields.
Perhaps a levelling of the playing-field was needed, as this was Taylor’s third consecutive ICC award, having previously won the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award in both 2012 and 2013.
Congratulations to Sarah from everyone at Gunn & Moore.
