Jenny Gunn’s international-best 5-22 condemned Pakistan Women to a 111-run defeat at Louth in the first of two NatWest Women’s One-Day Internationals.
Gunn’s opening wicket was the tourists’ top-scorer Javeria Khan, for 39. The Nottinghamshire seamer then proceeded to demolish the rest of the order and bettered her previous best figures of 5-31, having now taken 102 ODI wickets for England.
After the match, Gunn & Moore sponsored Jenny Gunn said: “I was really pleased today, I think we set the tone and personally it felt good to bowl. We were confident of defending our total but knew we had to bowl to our plans and we broke through at the right time to slow them down.
“I was pleased to be bowling again and to come on, take wickets and to contribute to the team; it’s always nice to take a fifer.”
Gunn & Moore MD Peter Wright said: “Congratulations from everyone at Gunn & Moore on this wonderful achievement by Jenny. We are proud she chooses to be a part of Team GM.”
The second NatWest Women’s One-Day International will be played on the Haslegrave ground at Loughborough University on Wednesday.
