Despite the best efforts of Team GM's Travis Head, Australia lost to India in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup final yesterday in Townsville.

Head - who impressed all and sundry after blazing a match-winning 57 (59) against England earlier in the tournament - helped steady the ship for the Aussies in the final, after a poor start.

Coming into bat with Australia at 4-38 on a green-top, Head took the imitative, smacking the Indian bowlers at every opportunity, before a cruellest of run-outs ended his momentum-shifting innings on 37.

Technically correct and surprisingly strong for an 18-year-old, Head impressed many during the tournament, including former Australian captain, Ian Chappell, who believes the young South Australian has the right attributes to make it far.

“He has tremendous upper body strength, as you can see in the way he lifts the ball off the ground with ease. This kid can play,” Chappell mentioned during commentary.

The Tea Tree Gully junior finished the tournament with 172 runs at 34.40 and was Australia's 3rd highest run-getter.. all while batting at number 6.

Gunn & Moore would like to congratulate all Team GM players who participated in the U19 World Cup in Queensland, Australia.
